KJ Farrells/Lets Rock for a Cure Benfit 9/15/12 Bellmore, Long Island

Photobucket

We offered our services at the "Lets Rock and Roll for a Cure" charity concert for a worthy cause and played the middle set (going on around 3 p.m.) amidst 5 bands at K.J. Farrell's on Long Island. This is definitely a bar set up for bands as could be gleaned from the proper placement of the sound tech (opposite stage), Pop Wallpaper (Classic Rock Icons) and hanging TV monitors promoting upcoming gigs for various local cover bands so it was a nice room to play with an actual stage and small lighting setup, the hi-hat was miked for this event which was adequate and backline provided by Thomas' co-worker Gordon.

Premiered at this show was the Stevie Ray Vaughan classic "Texas Flood".

(L to R) - Spike, Fran, Thomas and Joe.

It was nice to see Fran again after all these years (the last I saw her was in Thomas' band Heart & Soul in the late 80s) and she will be singing a few numbers with us at the next Good Yegg's show later this month.

There was a Buffet laid out that I attacked after our 50 minute set, pictured here is some nicely done Roasted Potatoes (6 o' clock) , Tasty Eggplant Parmigiana (11 o' clock) and some Chicken Francaise (2 o' clock).

Later in the day Thomas ordered KJ Farrell's Mozzarella Sticks that turned out to be the stretchiest the world has known, I still regret not getting a photo.

Later still Jamie made me Homeade Chicken Parmigiana and Broccoli Rabe Ravioli and this being the "Year of the Rabe" it was very fitting and Delicioso too.

Three Jolly Pigeons 6/9/12 Brooklyn, New York

Photobucket

The Yeggs got to play on the same bill as Black Death and Baby Daddy Project "Let It Be That" (The Let It Be album in its entirety) at Bay Ridge's Three Jolly Pigeons and I got to see some old friends of mine as well, Sweethook was in attendance too. We played a tight set loosely and Jazelyn helped us out with backing vocals on "Another Brooklyn". Premiered tonight was the Stevie Ray Vaughan classic "Texas Flood" to which afterwards John the Bass Player yelled to Thomas "Your saving that for the Yeggs !!!" referring to the tasty 16 bar Blues guitar solo Thomas took.

One of the things our rehearsal space is known for is the authentic railroad tie which we use to keep the bass drum sedentary and that is also quite heavy. Thomas forgot to bring the dumbbells along (the metal "weight" kind) so we transported the "tie" on the roof of Thomas' car, Fortunately and Luckily no one got hurt and I am referring to the other cars and innocent bystanders.

Previous to the gig Joe, Marco and myself stopped off a few doors down at Panchos for some authentic mexican food. I chose from the extensive menu and after asking Joe what a "Carnita" was (spanish for Pork) decided on Tostadas (2 for $6.00) one Carnitas (Pork), one Tinga (Spicy chicken) and a Lime Jarritos Soda. I Absolutely Loved the first Tostada (we think it was the Tinga but not sure) which had just the right hint of Cilantro and was piled high with ingredients atop a most durable and crunchy Tostada but there was something I didn't care about in the meat on the second one, it was kind of sticky and that reminds me a little of Pork Chops so I am assuming that was the Carnita. Either way I could eat here every day of the week.

Beefstock South/The Plastic Beef Variety Show - Freddy's Backroom 1/14/12 Brooklyn, New York

Photobucket

The Precursor to BEEFSTOCK 2012 was held at Freddy's by the band's with the band's and for the band's appearing this year of which the Good Yeggs will be amongst the roster.

The lineup tonight is below, we were running behind schedule as can be expected at these type of things.

6:30 - PLASTIC BEAST - (hand percussion welcome to sit in)
7:40 -
8:00 - BLACK DEATH w/THE BEER VAMPIRE
8:45 - NOHRMAL
8:50 - THE NOPAR KING w/LITTLE JOE IACONO
9:20 - POWER DROID
9:30 - SOLAR PUNCH
----- iNBAL
10:00 - ADMIRAL PORKBRAIN
10:35 - ERIC MATTINA
10:45 - THE GOOD YEGGS w/TOM ROBERTO
11:30 - THE BLOODY MUFFS
12:00 - THE BEAST
1:00 - OPEN BLUES JAM - (let me know in advance if interested)

Admiral Porkbrain came as a surprise to me being a Captain Beefheart tribute band amongst the proceedings, the opening song was "Moonlight On Vermont".

The Yegg's convened unto Freddy's just before 8 p.m. to check out Brian's Death Metal band BLACK DEATH and held a lengthy evening of wine, scotch, vodka, conversations about Gibson SG's, rolls, cough drops and chocolate covered cherries whilst careening in and out of the back room checking out all of the bands until our turn came. Aside from my count off to "Stranger Coming To Town" being 1-2-3-4 as opposed to the correct 1-2-3-4-2-2-3-4 we performed without incident or error and had a really good gig.

Thanks to Joe Cowell for emceeing our segment and Joseph Filosa for putting this all together.

Good Yegg's Press Release.

The Good Yeggs are back in Bay Ridge. On Saturday, December 3, 2011, 9:30 PM, The Good Yeggs will be playing a vibrant mixture of rock, blues, country, and original rock and roll at 3 Jolly Pigeons, located at 6802 3rd Ave, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

In response to the overall outcry from their last gig at 3 Jolly Pigeons back in January, 2011, a return trip to Bay Ridge-Brooklyn was a must. After careful negotiation and preparation, with intervention by Brian Dillon, the date of Saturday, December 3, 2011, was agreed upon.
Opening will be "The Subway Serenader and the International Silver String Subterranean Band". Comedic, TRaSH! blues, rock and roll, come and listen to the tails of the electric sewer, and the underground bowel movement.
The Subway Serenader was the seminal first act to perform at 3 Jolly Pigeons many years ago. Although not as angry as he was back then, Brian's act is still a frenzied and raucous set that is not for the faint of heart. On this night he will be backed up by The Good Yeggs.

And Who Shall Cast The First YEGG !!! - The Tea Lounge 3/25/11 Brooklyn, New York

Photobucket

The Good Yeggs played their first full set proper at the Tea Lounge in Brooklyn where we had previously performed a few songs at the 52nd Annual Kings County All Stars Christmas Spectacular. Thomas' brother Michael sat in on the drums and Joe performed a spirited version of "Build me up buttercup" I am told.
